Description of Services

PEACE Childcare provides access to quality affordable childcare in a safe, friendly, caring environment, providing, in consultation with children and young people, a varied programme of activities which challenge and stimulate, to help develop the children and young people’s social and educational skills.

Our Centres are open to children and young people regardless of race, gender, culture or ability. In addition, we are committed to integrating children with additional support needs with support from outside agencies where applicable.

Before school

Our Centres in Annanhilll, Dunlop, Gargieston, Loanhead and Onthank are open in the morning from 8am – 9am (Dunlop & Gargieston are open from 7.45am-9.00am and Onthank is open from 7:15am – 9.00am).  We provide children with a healthy breakfast before going to school. Choices include a range of cereals, toast with various spreads, fruit, juice, milk, water or a hot drink if preferred.

After school

When children come to us after school they are given a snack (menus are chosen by the children on a weekly basis), before participating in a wide range of activities which include;

Arts & crafts, physical activities, free play, construction toys, computer games, internet access (closely supervised by staff), homework support and any other activities identified by the children when they, in conjunction with staff, devise our weekly programme of activities.

Full day care

During school holidays and in service days, we provide full day care from either our Centre at Onthank or St Andrew's, which is open from 7:15am – 6:00pm. Not only do we have a huge range of activities and “theme days” planned during every holiday, we also have many trips and outings to suit the children’s ages and stages of development, e.g. outings to soft play for the younger children or bowling for the older age group.

Training

Continuous personal development training (CPD) is delivered during staff development days on a monthly basis.

CPD can comprise of training gaps or refreshers at staff requests and suggestions, identified and delivered by the Services Manager or in some cases, outsourced to the relevant experts and agencies.
